Alternative Victorians and their Predecessors: New Directions in Nineteenth-Century Theatre and Performance Research

You are warmly invited to Alternative Victorians and their Predecessors: New Directions in Nineteenth-Century Theatre and Performance Research, a symposium to investigate current developments in theatre and performance research and scholarship relating to the long nineteenth century, and to consider ways forward.

This symposium focuses on papers exploring what has been called the ‘new theatre history’, innovative research methods and reconfigurations of theatre and performance history on both a national and global scale.

Speakers will include: Tracy C. Davis, Dan Rebellato, Kate Newey, Marty Gould, Baz Kershaw, and Catherine Hindson. The full schedule (subject to confirmation) can be found below.

The symposium is convened by the editors of Nineteenth Century Theatre and Film: Jim Davis, Janice Norwood, Patricia Smyth and Sharon Weltman.

Registration Fee: £15/ Postgraduates, £10 (includes lunch and refreshments, payable on the day, but please register your intention to attend in advance).
