The Bologna Process

In which ways is the History Subject Centre involved with the Bologna Process?

The Bologna Process was launched in June 1999, when higher education ministers from 29 countries (including the UK) signed a Declaration setting out what needed to be done to enhance the mobility and employability of European citizens and increase the competitiveness of European higher education through the creation of a single European Higher Education Area by 2010. It has introduced a number of reforms designed to make it easier to read and compare national qualifications.

We seek to promote the Bologna process and to support the engagement of institutions by leading consultation with the sector; representing History on relevant working groups; disseminating briefings; offering support for Bologna-related events; and facilitating sector activities, including research, to promote student and staff mobility.
