The eight online units which make up British History and the Census (for the CHCC project) are for use by teachers in UK further and higher education. The resource facilitates educational use of electronic census data for 1851 and 1881 provided by the History Data Service at the University of Essex. Seven of the units cover different aspects of nineteenth century British history and the eighth teaches how to manipulate electronic census data using database software. The authors are university history teachers who use nineteenth century census data in their teaching.
