Using the “Decoding the Disciplines” approach, Indiana University’s History Learning Project mobilized the resources of an academic department not initially committed to collective action with respect to teaching and learning to define the thinking needed in its courses and to build and assess a developmental curriculum around these competencies. The presenters showed how they built from their interviews to a curriculum. Participants explored how they might mobilize their own departments to develop a shared learning-centered teaching culture.
