History Lab

History Lab

The History Lab is a an established network for postgraduate students and new researchers in history and related disciplines. Based at the Institute of Historical Research, it is an intellectual and social forum designed to meet the needs of postgraduate history community. It is an opportunity for the next generation of historians to meet to discuss ideas and to drive the study of history forward.

What we offer

  • A fortnightly postgraduate seminar
  • An annual conference
  • Workshops on essential skills such as public speaking and organising conferences. The next workshop takes place in December and is on 'Teaching as a history PhD student'
  • An email information network for postgraduates and new researchers
  • Social activities
  • We also have a History Lab blog at http://history-lab.blogspot.com/ which is a space for postgraduates to air their grievances and share advice.
