SociologyAt Nottingham the Sociology pathway will be offered in the School of Sociology and Social Policy, whose place amongst the UK's leading departments for sociology, criminology, social policy and social work was confirmed in the Research Excellence Framework 2014, in which 78% of our research was ranked 'world-leading' or 'internationally excellent'.

Research conducted by staff and students in the School focuses on eight thematic core areas:

Children and families Social work and social care for adults Health and well-being Policy analysis
Identities Mobilities and migration Work and inequalities Science, knowledge and society


These thematic foci are channelled through the School's four research centres:

Identities, Citizenship, Equalities and Migration (ICEMiC) Centre for Applied Social Research
International Centre for Public and Social Policy Institute for Science and Society
