The placement was hard work but enjoyable and worthwhile. James Morrow

It’s great to work with a young person who is keen to learn about quantitative research methods. Dr Roxanne Connelly

The Q-Step Centre was delighted to host a Nuffield Research Placement student this year. James Morrow joined us, for 4 weeks over the summer, to work on a quantitative research placement. The placement, which was supervised by a member of the Warwick Q-Step team - Dr Roxanne Connelly, involved research on the way that students make decisions about post-16 courses and the possible implications of these choices on their future education and career.

To find out more about James's research project and its findings, please see the placement presentation, poster and report below.

Presentation  – See the PowerPoint slides from the presentation that James delivered to Q-Step/CIM staff at the end of his placement.

Poster   – Summarising key aspects of the research and its findings.

Final Report  – Full report detailing the data analysis and findings.

During his placement, James was able to meet and work with research staff and students, as well as experiencing the academic research environment more generally. We very much enjoyed having James with us and wish to thank him for his hard work and commitment. His research was very topical and interesting and his presentation of the findings gave rise to some lively discussion and debate. We wish him the very best with his future studies!
