Postgraduate Degree Programmes
The following postgraduate programmes are offered by the Centre for Interdisciplinary Studies, the Department of Sociology and the Department of Politics and International Studies, in conjunction with the Warwick Q-Step Centre:
- MSc in Big Data and Digital Futures
- MSc in Social Inequality and Research Methods
- MA in Politics, Big Data and Quantitative Methods
In contrast to many big data focused degrees (e.g. Data Science or Data Analytics) where the emphasis ends up being almost exclusively on data practices and computational tools, these degrees provide key skills in a range of theoretical approaches and practice-based skills. These degree programmes will provide students with the skills to critically engage with research methods, as well as big data and other data types theoretically, methodologically and practically, across a range of disciplines in the social sciences.
Students will also receive cutting-edge training in advanced quantitative methods, data management and data analysis, giving them a competitive advantage in today’s global job market.

MSc in Big Data and Digital Futures
The MSc in Big Data and Digital Futures will enable students to understand and act in a society transformed by big data and develop a range of theoretical and practical interdisciplinary capacities.

The MSc in Social Inequality and Research Methods is ideal for students who wish to develop strong research methods skills in order to pursue a career in social research in the public, private or the third sector.
