Biography

I have been an Associate Professor in Public Health at Warwick Medical School and an honorary Public Health consultant since completing higher specialty training in London, Kent, Surrey and Sussex in 2014. I have expertise in three main areas: the behavioural risk-factors for non-communicable disease (particularly diet); the health of marginalised (urban) populations; and knowledge mobilisation (that is efforts to bridge the gap between research and practice to improve population health). I am currently acting director of Warwick Centre for Global Health. I am also inaugural deputy director of the Warwick Interdisciplinary Research Centre for International Development (WICID) and co-lead of the Public Health theme of the NIHR West Midlands Applied Research Collaboration. I have 6 successful completed PhD students. I lead public health training at Warwick, hosting West Midlands registrars, and lead modules (Public Mental Health and International Health Policy) on the MPH, while contributing to other public health teaching in the department and across the wider University.
