Spectroscopy Teaching Resources

Here we present three short films to show how to use an infrared spectrometer, a nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer and a mass spectrometer for the analysis of a sample of Aspirin. We hope they are useful! They include some interpretation of the spectra, and are performed on current instrumentation here in the University of Warwick Chemistry Department.

(Technically speaking, spectroscopy is the study of the interaction of electromagnetic radiation with matter, and so mass spectrometery is not technically spectroscopy! We include it here for completeness, realising that these three techniques are often taught and used together)
