I graduated from the University of Warwick in 2007 after successfully obtaining an MChem in Chemistry, during which time I undertook a research project as part of the Troisi group.
My current research is on the theory of organic semiconductors; with specific emphasis on the charge transport and the calculation of the charge mobility in these materials. Organic semiconductors represent an interesting class of materials with the potential to be used in a wide variety of electronic applications. Good materials should have high charge mobilties although currently the factors limiting this are not well understood. Recently diffusion limited by thermal off-diagonal disorder has been proposed to describe the charge transport in organic crystals, whereby fluctuations in the structure lead to alterations in the non-local electron-phonon coupling. This project aims to extend this theory to semi-conducting polymers focusing on the role thermal fluctuations play in modulating the charge mobility.
