C15 Short term joint staff training event

C15 will take place in Athens, Greece from Friday April 15th to Tuesday April 19th 2016. The detailed programme is yet to be finalised but will be informed by this agenda and include two workshop activities similar in character to those organised at C2 in September 2015 (see the schedule below).

The context for C15 is as set out in the account of the C14 meeting held in Athens in May 2016: C15 is described in the project proposal (p59) as "Familiarisation with revised MC resources Year 2 at Edumotiva 2016". The broader context for C15 is explained in the following terms (see the bold highlights): "May-July: The refined MC instrument and online resources for MCxa and MCxb are deployed by Edumotiva, UEF and Edinburgh to the corresponding target groups viz. student computing teachers, young people aged 5-19 and education students respectively, and evaluated. They are also deployed by Warwick with a view to evaluating the relevant claims." There are no specific preplanned workshops for the activities associated with Warwick and Edinburgh, but there is provision in the budget for a 'full' attendance from all the partners at C15 (see p73 of the proposal) and we expect to have representatives from all our partners apart from Helix5. (These will be Dimitris Alimisis, Rene Alimisi and Manolis Zoulias from Edumotiva, Meurig Beynon, Elizabeth Hudnott and Chris Hall from Warwick, Hamish Macleod from Edinburgh, Tapani Toivonen and Janne Karttunen from UEF, Peter Tomcsanyi and Michal Winczer from Comenius.)

For this second year of the CONSTRUIT! project, the topical 'revised MC resources' are those that were developed for C6, and in particular the radically new version of the MCE that was first mooted at C2 in Athens in September 2015. The possibility of making use of Arduino in some way might be worth considering, though the expertise of the Warwick contingent may not be best matched to this topic. As in 2015, it will be useful to consider the agenda for C15 in conjunction with that of the C12 and SciFest 2016 meeting, though SciFest will this time take place three weeks after C15.
