This project is investigating the use of Fanuc flextool robots working collaboratively for handling of large aerospace components during assembly. Work to date has concentrated on calibrating the arms to obtain the best accuracy possible and synchronisation of the arms. Future work will include producing an extension to the ROBCAD environment to allow task based programming of multiple units.
These units are already used in the automotive industry as programmable tooling points for body in white construction. A revised version of the flextools the F-200 has been delivered and results of accuracy tests on it should be available shortly.
