Instability of compound liquid jets falling under gravity

Rupture of liquid jets has been an area of scientific interest for almost two centuries. However, applications in modern day engineering and science still raise interesting questions about the dynamics and subsequent droplet formation in liquid jets. In this talk we consider compound liquid jets and their stability with a view to understanding the process of encapsulated droplet formation. We will examine both theoretical and numerical approaches to understanding this process.
