Abstract

This paper presents a technique for the compression of UV spectroscopic images of acinar pancreatic cells obtained at two wavelengths of light. UV spectroscopic images of the surface of three acinar pancreatic cells are used in the analysis of the propagation of calcium within these cells. The Wavelet Transform is used to decompose the images at each time step to N dyadic scales. The Nth level is retained and the resulting sub-bands at the lower levels are discarded. The images are then reconstructed by linear interpolation of the lower level sub-bands from the top level of the pyramid and the transform of the average image.
