Food testing

The AIM Lab has used several techniques with which to measure the quality of food, and to inspect food for contamination or the presence of foreign bodies. The two main techniques are Ultrasound and Near Infrared (NIR).

The Ultrasound work has been funded via a recent FoodLink research programme with the UK Government. This is part of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).

The NIR work has also been funded by DEFRA, via its BridgeLink programme.
