Zuobin Wang, BSc, MSc, PhD, is Professor and Director of Centre for Nano Metrology and Manufacturing Technologies, Director of Jilin Provincial International Science & Technology Cooperation Base for Nano Handling, Assembly & Manufacturing, Director of Changchun S&T Innovation Centre for Nanomanufacturing, Deputy Director of the International Joint Research Center for Nanophotonics and Biophotonics (IJRCNB) with the Institute for Lasers, Photonics, and Biophotonics (ILPB), USA; part time Professor of the University of Bedfordshire (BED/UK), and the joint deputy director of Joint Research Centre for Computer-controlled Nanomanufacturing with BED.

He received his PhD in Optical Interferometry from the Centre for Microengineering and Nanotechnology, University of Warwick (UK) in 1997, sponsored by the Sino-British Friendship Scholarship Scheme (SBFSS). Since then, he has been a senior research fellow/project manager at the Manufacturing Engineering Centre of Cardiff University (UK), and involved in a number of EU projects. As the originator, he brought in five EU projects and one British-German collaboration (ARC) project for the centre during the FP6 period, having experience in coordinating/leading the EU STREP project DELILA, IP project HYDROMEL (Subproject leader) and CA project IPMMAN (PI). He is now the leader of 12 research projects in China.

His research interest is in the areas of robotic nanohandling and manufacturing, laser interference nanolithography and nanometrology. He has published more than 70 papers, and is a guest editor for IEEE and two other international journals. In 2009, he was honoured as one of the first 23 “High-level overseas creative and innovative talents” by the Government of Jilin Province, China. In May 2010, his work on the EU project was published by the EU project website. As a general chair, he has successfully organised a new annual International Conference on Manipulation, Manufacturing and Measurement on the Nanoscale (3M-NANO), held for the first time in Changchun, China on 29 August– 2 September 2011 (http://www.3m-nano.org/), and the ERA is one of the sponsors.
