Human Perception of Low-Frequency Vibration

Human perception of vibration of civil engineering structures is influenced by numerous factors, such as time of exposure, expectancy of vibration, number of people present, human posture (walking, jumping, sitting, standing), vibration level, direction and frequency, etc. Little is known how people perceive low-frequency vibration (typical of slender footbridges) while walking. This project is an opportunity to study human perception of vibration on a low-frequency lively bridge situated in the laboratory in the School of Engineering.
