Rationale

This investigation will involve integrated heating and cooling systems. It will focus on London Underground, which has a massive cooling challenge and heat available in close proximity to heat demand.

Challenge/Objectives/ Deliverables

The challenge will be to develop advanced bivalent heat pumps with energy storage, whilst at the same time overcoming the soft barriers to sharing heat.

Pathway to impact

Solutions can be trialled and implemented. Part of the study will be to identify generic applications which lend themselves to heat sharing such as data centres and supermarkets, and to disseminate and exploit to these applications.
