Justin Russell

Profile

Justin Russell completed his MEng in Civil Engineering at the University of Nottingham in 2010. He then remained at Nottingham to undertake a PhD project entitled Progressive Collapse of Reinforced Concrete Flat Slab Structures. This work used experimental testing and extensive finite element modelling to consider the nonlinear and dynamic effects involved during an extreme event on such structures.

After completing his PhD Justin continued his work at the University of Surrey with a short term project considering the application of current design guidelines for progressive collapse. This work included consultation with industry contacts to identify the issues faced by practicing engineers in applying code provisions.

In October 2015, Justin joined the University of Warwick as a Research Fellow on the project Characterising Dynamic Performance of Fibre Reinforced Polymer Structures for Resilience and Sustainability.
