Systems Engineering Degrees

Where disciplines meet to create systems that work

Engineering design today is increasingly complicated involving hundreds or even thousands of components, e.g. a hybrid car or energy supply system. As products become more complex, there is a growing need for engineers to take a holistic or system level view with a structured approach to managing large projects that involve people, tools, information, and technology.

Our Systems Engineering course will prepare you for this role with a course that in the first two years builds a comprehensive foundation in engineering design and business.

In the third and fourth years you can increase your skills in analysis and management at the system level

with modules in control system theory, information processing, and power/energy systems.

Selecting modules in electrical energy systems for instance would prepare you for a career in the new and exciting low-carbon energy technologies.

Project work forms part of both the third and fourth year: students have a wide choice of topics, such as wind turbine & solar power generation, moon orbiting satellite, robotics, and vehicle systems.

Electives in Business Management and Sustainability allow you to add a specialism within the MEng. Both BEng and MEng are accredited by the IET and other institutions.
