Ergodic Theory and Dynamical Systems

11-15 July 2011

Organisers: Mark Pollicott and Sebastian van Strien

This will be a general workshop on recent progress in Ergodic Theory and Dynamical Sytems, and related topics.
The meeting will start with registration on the morning of Monday, 11th July.

An important aspect of this meeting will be an emphasis on making results accessible to younger participants.

The programme will consist of a mixture of a short series of lectures and research talks. The short lecture courses will include:

O. Sarig, (Weizmann Institute) Symbolic dynamics for surface diffeomorphisms
W. Shen, (National University of Singapore) Stochastic stability of non-uniformly expanding interval maps
Ya. G. Sinai, (Princeton University) Mobius function and statistical physics, and Bifurcations in solutions of 2-dim Navier-Stokes system

The meeting will begin at 2:00pm on Monday, 11th July, with an afternoon session marking the retirement of Anthony Manning.
Speakers for this include K. Burns (Northwestern), G. Contreras (CIMAT, Mexico) and K. Simon (Budapest)

Accommodation will be arranged on Campus by the Mathematics Research Centre (MRC) for participants that have registered online.

Lunches and dinners will be provided in the Mathematics Department.
