MiR@W day: Model Coupling and Applications

14 October 2013

Organisers Andreas Dedner, Christoph Ortner

This half-day workshop will feature model coupling techniques for "multi-physics" problems (such as fluid structure interaction) as well as "multi-model-single-physics" techniques (such as atomistic/continuum). We will explore both applications of model coupling as well as some of the numerical analysis and scientific computing issues that arise.

Programme

12:00 : Lunch in the Mathematics Common Room
13:00 : Matthias Maischak (Brunel University) Symmetric FEM and BEM coupling, theory and numerics
14:00 : Matthias Heil (University of Manchester) oomph-lib - the object-oriented multi-physics finite-element library
15:00 : Coffee in the Mathematics Institute Common Room
15:40 : Charalambos Makridakis (University of Sussex)
16:40 : Steven Kenny (Loughborough University)
17:40 : Drinks and snacks in Mathematics Institute Common Room
