IMC Problem Solving Seminar

This year's International Mathematics Competition is expected to take place as an in-person event, 5-11 August 2024 in Blagoevgrad, Bulgaria.

Warwick's team for the competition will be selected on the basis of three 1-hour written tests. If you would like to be considered for the team, please come to all three tests. Students completing their first, second, third or fourth year of university education (including courses such as MMath and MASt) and being at most 23 years old at the time of the competition are eligible for inclusion into the team. The Mathematics Department will cover travel and registration expenses of the selected team.

Also, we will run some training sessions, which everyone (even those who do not intend to take part in the selection tests) are welcome to attend. No prior registration is required; just turn up for any session.

    A preliminary schedule is as follows (all tests and sessions are 2-3pm):

    • 31 January (in B3.03): Oleg Pikhurko "Convergence and Limits" (problems for practice at home, solutions)
    • 7 February (in B3.03): selection test
    • 14 February (in B3.03): Robin Visser "Linear Algebra" (handout)
    • 28 February (in D1.07): selection test
    • 6 March (in D1.07): Jun Jan "Expectation (handout)
    • 13 March (in D1.07): selection test
