New 3rd Year BSc. Regulations

While we are waiting for modules to be finalised before updating the Course Handbook, here is some advance warning of the new regulations for module choices affecting the 3rd Year BSc. students for 2012/13, and the new additions to List A (on top of the current list):

Mathematics (BSc)

The normal load is 120 CATS credits. The maximum load is 180 CATS credits. Candidates for Honours are required to take:

Modules totalling at least 57 CATS credits from List A (including at least 45 CATS of modules with codes beginning MA3 or ST318), and an appropriate number of modules selected from List B, such that the total number of credits from List B and Unusual Options combined shall not exceed 66 CATS (not including Level 7 MA and ST coded modules).

Candidates for Pass degrees are required to take modules totalling between 90 CATS credits and 104 CATS credits from the core plus Lists A and B including modules totalling at least 45 CATS credits from List A with codes beginning MA3 or ST318. At the discretion of the Director of Undergraduate Studies, the total load of such a student may be increased up to a maximum not exceeding 120 CATS credits. Candidates for a Pass degree are required to take MA397 as an additional Core module.
