Scanning Electrochemical Conductance Microscopes (SECM) can be used to investigate the surface of materials and determine structure and conducting properties. Due to the very small size of the Ultramicroelectrode (UME) an understanding of the the fluid dynamics around the tip is desirable to understand how the tip current is being effected.

Numerical simulations provide an accurate way of determining tip behaviour however current models are often built in commercial simulation packages such as FEMLab which are often unsuitable for various problems.

I implemented an open source custom built Fluid Dynamics simulator using C++ using the Finite Volume Method. My simulation successfully replicated data from established sources and could be extended in the future to provide full functionality.
