Chris Patrick

About me

I am a postdoctoral researcher working with Julie Staunton, using computational modelling to study the magnetic properties of materials.

Prior to working at Warwick, I completed my doctorate under the supervision of Feliciano Giustino in the Department of Materials at the University of Oxford. I then spent two years at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) working with Kristian Thygesen in the Centre for Atomic Scale Materials Design (CAMd).

About my research

The underlying goal of my work is to understand the behaviour of materials in terms of the individual electrons and nuclei which they are made of. At Warwick I am working as part of the PRETAMAG project, investigating the Physics underlying the principles of Rare Earth TrAnsition-metal permanent MAGnets. This particular topic nicely incorporates a number of research themes that I am interested in:
