Some issues in modern forensic DNA evidence interpretation

The forensic biology community has adopted new DNA typing technology relatively quickly as it has evolved over the last twenty years. However, the adoption of the statistical methodology used for the interpretation of this evidence has not been as fast. In this talk I will discuss classical forensic DNA interpretation and how it the changes in technology  and thinking have led to challenges to the way we interpret evidence. I will present some relatively new models for evidence interpretation, and discuss future directions. This talk is aimed at a general audience.
