The East Midlands has the largest share of regional workforce compared to any other English region or UK nation (2.5% in 2008) with 54,603 employees. Across the East Midlands workplace employment is projected to grow slightly faster than the UK average over the period to 2014. The region has one of the fastest rates of regional increase for sales and customer service occupations, which is important for the sector as it is a significant need within the sector.
Loughborough University offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in automotive engineering and transportation electronics, as well as being involved in many automotive research projects and offering automotive retail and distribution training.
