Impact of Apprenticeship Levy
The Apprenticeship Levy is one of the most radical changes in UK VET policy in decades. Transferring funding from Government to employers to create a demand driven market, whilst welcomed, has caused uncertainty across the FE sector.
The Association of Employment and Learning Providers (AELP) has commissioned Warwick IER and IFF to undertake a survey of employers and providers to determine what their expectations and plans are in the short- and medium term.
The study is comparing the take up of apprenticeships in the past seven months with take-up in the next seven months. And then in the following year. The study is looking for any changes in the take-up of apprenticeships by: type of employer (especially levy and non-levy payers), type of Framework/Standards, level of apprenticeship and the age of apprentices. The analysis will also identify whether any displacement has occurred, with employers shifting provision from other types of employee training.
