LLM in ALS 2013-2014
As a Warwick Graduate I chose to return to the University to study my LLM, due to my first-hand experience of the unrivalled teaching, course content and approach to study. I chose the ALS course as it can be tailored to each students specific interest, making my further studies both personalised and relevant. My particular interest was in commercial law, thus I opted for a range of business focused modules. Warwick's approach of ‘law in context’ has underpinned my studies, allowing me to gain a practical understanding of subjects such as M&A’s and how they operate. This understanding is distinctive of Warwick and has given me a greater insight into what I could expect from my chosen career path, as a commercial solicitor.
Particular highlights of the Masters for me include developing varied legal interests and beginning to explore my ‘niche’ in the legal sphere. Furthermore, studying law at an advanced level has given me improved confidence in my academic ability. I also made a really great group of friends throughout my year who I’m still in contact with and have forged a range of career paths post Masters!
Where are they now?
This summer I completed two vacation schemes, at Shearman & Sterling, and Trowers & Hamlins. As a result of this I am thrilled to have accepted a Training Contract with Trowers & Hamlins. The firm caters for a number of varied practice areas including Islamic finance and corporate law, and has an established Middle Eastern practice, all factors which drew me to Trowers & Hamlins in particular. I am currently completing my LPC at Kaplan Law School in London and look forward to joining the firm in the near future.
