Find out what's happening
There are lots of exciting events happening within the Law School. Plus there are many other University and external events which may be of interest. We have therefore collated them all into one central calendar to help you choose which you would like to attend.
Research Seminar - Professor Yash Ghai and Professor Jill Cottrell Ghai
'Elections, Constitution and Politics in Kenya'
Together Yash Ghai and Jill Cottrell Ghai will explore the judiciary and politics in the context of the Kenyan Constitution and the nature of Kenyan politics. How the Constitution tries to ensure independence of the judiciary. How the President (and others) have tried to undermine it.
Yash Ghai and Jill Cottrell Ghai taught at the Warwick Law School in the 1970s-end of the 80s. Yash Ghai was primarily a constitutional lawyer. He has written or advised on a score of constitutions, including that of Kenya. After 'retiring' from academic careers, they, together with Waikwa Wanyoike, in 2011 founded Katiba [Constitution] Institute in Nairobi (www.katibainstitute.org] devoted to upholding Kenya's Constitution, through litigation, education, publication, argumentation and occasionally activism.
