Student Opportunities on Equality, Human Rights and Public Spending Cuts Work


The Centre for Human Rights in Practice has developed an area of expertise in undertaking human rights and equality analysis of the public sector spending cuts.

We have written a series of reports and have a number of ongoing research projects which investigate the impacts of public spending cuts and welfare refrom. We also undertake workshops, and provide expert training and support for public authorities and civil society organisations. We have created an electronic database of materials for use by activists and practitioners to assist them in their own analysis.

We are looking for a student who would assist us with this project, primarily working on the database. The work will include researching issues related to the public spending cuts, the extension and development of the database, and communicating with civil society organisations and public authorities who we are working with. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate very good research, communication and IT skills and a passion for research into issues of human rights and equality.

Successful candidates should be prepared to work up to 6 hours per week throughout terms 1 and 2 of the academic year. The role will be paid at standard research assistant rates (approx. £10 per hour).
