BBC Radio 4 begins broadcasting the first series of "Hut 33"

Hut33

The BBC Radio sitcom "Hut 33" is set during the Second World War and relates the adventures of a team of codebreakers at Bletchley Park. Three rather improbable code-breakers are forced to share a bleak wooden hut as they try to break German ciphers. Coming from different backgrounds, they don't get along. Archie is a Geordie who wants a socialist revolution, Charles meanwhile is a supercilliouse snob from a public school. They are joined by a child prodigy called Gordon and, sometimes, the very silent Winstanley. Hut 33's Polish secretary Minka is the only effective member of the team, but her answer to every problem involves extreme violence. Series 1 was well received and was followed by Series 2 and Series 3.

Starring: Robert Bathurst, Tom Goodman-Hill, Fergus Craig, Alex MacQueen, Olivia Colman, Lill Roughley

Writer: James Cary
