There are three main areas of research:

 

• theoretical and practical issues in democratisation especially international support for democracy building
• the political economy of foreign aid

• 'democracy promotion'/'autocracy promotion' after the 'Arab spring'
• the implications of democratisation and climate change/responses to climate change for each other
