Amsterdam Warwick Project

Particular attention was devoted to the role of external actors, including multilateral, bilateral, civil society and party assistance organizations, in supporting the development of political parties and other democratic institutions. As part of a larger group of PhD research projects both at Warwick University and Amsterdam University, discussions highlighted the experiences with international democracy promotion in ‘new democracies’ in the Balkans (Bosnia, Kosovo, Serbia), Georgia, and Ukraine, as well as post-conflict countries (Cambodia, El Salvador). The core aim of the workshop is to exchange ideas and information about research design, research problems, and research collaboration. Workshop participants included academic staff and PhD students from both universities.
