Children, Education & Philosophy Working Group

JANSTEERThe children, education and philosophy group is dedicated to the study of the normative issues raised by the rearing and education of children. These philosophical questions bear on a wide variety of practical issues faced by society, including the content of the school curriculum, the just distribution of educational resources, and the range of parental rights that should be protected by law.

The group runs a branch of the Philosophy of Education Society of Great Britain. For details click here.

The main research of this group is a project funded by the Spencer Foundation, Faith Schooling: Principles and Policies, which has three principal investigators: Matthew Clayton, Andrew Mason and Adam Swift. For further information about the project, see the project webpage.
