Training & Expertise

As a PAIS student, you will tap into this extensive expertise and learn the most up-to-date theories and explore relevant case studies while gaining a solid foundation in the critical tradition. PAIS consistently receives excellent feedback on student satisfaction with teaching, and we were hailed as a model of good practice among Warwick departments during the 2011 internal teaching review and achieved a 94% teaching satisfaction rating in the Guardian University Guide 2013 rankings.

In addition to academic development, you will have many personal and professional development opportunities during your time in PAIS.

These include skills workshops, training seminars run by the Careers & Skills Office, a robust personal tutor system to help map your future, and placement opportunities enabling you to gain practical experience alongside your degree work.

The impact of PAIS research does not stop at the doors of the university, either.

Our staff routinely influence real-world policy and contribute to the political and wider development field, from providing expert commentary and advice for government to frequent appearances in mass media.

With over 50 academic staff, dozens of postdoctoral researchers, and a thriving PhD community, PAIS has a strong research portfolio which enables us to stay at the forefront of research in this field. We have a strong track record of successful grants, resulting in a wide range of workshops and individual research projects all the way up to multi-million pound projects that span several years.
