My main reason for coming to PAIS was the special Double Degree Programme in Politics and International Studies that has been offered for the first time this year in collaboration with NTU Singapore. I couldn’t find such a programme anywhere else in the UK. I have found tutors and professors here very accessible and friendly, and I have felt well supervised throughout the year. The year at PAIS has helped me develop my writing and critical thinking skills, as well as it made me discover areas of interest that I hadn’t focused on before. Even though my BA degree was in Chinese Studies, I could follow classes well and can thus also recommend the PG programmes to students who don’t hold a degree in Political Science.

Other than regular classes there are many workshops and lecture series taking place which cover interesting and recent topics - they are a great opportunity to broaden one’s horizon and to exchange viewpoints with other students outside class and definitely worth attending! The university offers free English language classes to improve various skills that I can recommend to international students. Furthermore, I completed a Spanish class at the language centre, where you can choose from several different languages and levels. In the end it is possible to get a certificate about the class.

The social life of both the university and especially PAIS is great, and it is one of the main reasons that made this experience so special for me. I have made many good friends during that time and the atmosphere among the PG students was simply great. I am confident that the academic and personal development I have undergone here at Warwick will be of great benefit for me in the future!
