How To Find Us

LOCATION

The University of Warwick is situated midway between Coventry and Kenilworth approximately 3 miles away from each. It is 20 miles south of Birmingham, and 100 miles north of London. Some local towns are Leamington Spa (8 miles away), Warwick (8 miles away) and Stratford-on-Avon (18 miles away). Your en-suite, study bedroom accommodation is located on the Central Campus of the University.

TRAVEL DIRECTIONS

Travel by Car

For access from the A45 or A46 see the University’s instructions. Car Park 7 and Cark Park 8 are the closest to the university accommodation. Parking is free during the conference period though please note that due to other events taking place at the University parking spaces will be very limited.

Journeys from Airports

Birmingham Airport is the most suitable international airport being 18 miles (less than 30 mins taxi ride) from the University (and some services also operate from Coventry Airport).

BIRMINGHAM AIRPORT: There are many international flights to Birmingham (it is not worth taking an internal flight from Gatwick or Heathrow to Birmingham.) There is a shuttle train service between the Airport and Birmingham International Railway Station. You should then take a train to Coventry Railway Station (trains run approximately every half hour during the day; a 15-minute journey; costing about £3). Then please see section below on Arrival in Coventry. Alternatively, a taxi from Birmingham Airport to the University of Warwick will cost approximately £20.00.

COVENTRY AIRPORT is a small airport with some European flights. On arrival take a taxi to the University.

Other airports are NOT as convenient: Heathrow Airport is approximately 2.5 hours away. Gatwick Airport is approximately 3.5 hours away.

Coach Service from Heathrow or Gatwick

Take a Flight link coach to Coventry (they have pickup points at all the terminal buildings and tickets should be purchased from the Flightlink/National Express Desk in your arrival terminal, or from the Flightlink office in the Central Coach Station at Heathrow; advance booking is available on a telephone service 0990-757-747 from 08.00-22.00 but we cannot make reservations on your behalf); then please see section below on Arrival in Coventry. A single ticket from Heathrow costs approximately £17.00 and a return ticket costs approximately £23.00; from Gatwick a single ticket costs approximately £18.00 and a return ticket costs approximately £24.50. Flightlink coach is the most convenient and inexpensive way to get here if you are arriving at either of these two airports.

Manchester Airport is approximately 3 hours away; there is a coach service operated by National Express Coaches. It is also possible to come by rail but this involves going by train from the airport to central Manchester, and then by train to Coventry, changing at Birmingham. There are European flights to and from Manchester and some intercontinental flights.

Luton Airport is approximately 75 minutes away; this is a small airport with mainly European flights. There is a Flightlink coach service from here to Coventry, but this service is very limited (more frequent in the Summer months). Please see “Heathrow or Gatwick” for further details. If the coach is not available then it will be necessary to go by train via London to Coventry and this makes the journey time around 3.5 hours.

Stansted Airport is the least convenient of the airports. To get to Coventry it is necessary to go by train to either London or to Birmingham and then on to Coventry. We suggest that you do NOT use this airport unless there is absolutely no alternative.

Journeys from Central London
There are trains every half hour throughout the day from London Euston Station to Coventry; approximately 90 minute journey. There is a less frequent service from Marylebone Station to Leamington Spa. For train timetables see National Rail. Train services from London to Warwick and Stratford-on-Avon are very difficult and should NOT be attempted.

General travel from other places in the UK: By rail see National Rail. By coach see National Express.

On arrival in Coventry

Either at the railway station or the coach station we suggest that you take a taxi as this is much the simplest way to arrive here and is reasonably priced. The taxi fare is approximately £7.00 from either the railway or coach station to the University. The taxi company we have used for some time is Allens - telephone Coventry (0)24 7655 5555. The bus fare from Coventry Railway Station on the number 12 bus is £1.00 (exact fare only, no change is given).
