Individual Behaviour

Individual Behaviour: Tuesday 8 May 2012

Individual Behaviour is one of the Global Priorities Programme, (GPP) research themes, identified as part of the University’s research strategy to give clear thematic identity, aligned to external funding priorities, to our multi-disciplinary research strengths which can make a significant contribution to some of society’s most pressing issues.

Warwick has considerable strengths and interests in understanding how individuals behave and make decisions. Boosted by the establishment of the Behavioural Science group in Warwick Business School (WBS), a small group of economists and psychologists with interests in experimental methods and behavioural economic modelling, extended their informal group to colleagues in Maths, Complexity, Statistics, Digital Lab and the Medical School, and the meetings, under the umbrella of DR@W (Decision Research at Warwick), now facilitate internal discussion and external speakers, continuing to attract attendance and contributions from different disciplines. The establishment of a joint MSc between Economics, Psychology and WBS further cements the foundations for the enterprise.

The session was introduced by Professor Mark Taylor, Dean of Warwick Business School (WBS) and chaired by GPP lead, Professor Graham Loomes. Leading Warwick academics each introduced their interest and research strand within the theme of Individual Behaviour.

The audience were encouraged to engage in debate around the topic, raising questions and ideas in a breakout session facilitated by Warwick academics on the topics introduced. Noting thoughts, perceptions, questions and ideas on the paper tablecloths and graffiti boards was encouraged.
