  • TEDx 2013

TEDx Warwick, the annual ‘ideas conference’ organised by University of Warwick students took place on March 9 2013 at Warwick Arts Centre. The event aims to bring people from the University, the local community and beyond together in an engaging day of talks and performances, under the TED ethos of ‘ideas worth spreading’. This year’s TEDx Warwick theme is “Building Bridges” and featured a range of leading visionaries and performers discussing topics from nanotechnology to vertical farming. Highlights of this year’s event include talks from President of the International Paralympic Committee, Sir Philip Craven MBE; vertical farming pioneer Dickson Despommier; scientific phenomena photographer Fabian Oefner and Bob Bishop, whose 'holistic' simulations map the future of the Earth.

  • What Makes an Effective Teacher?

The University's Secondary PGCE trainee teachers from the Drama with English and the English with Drama groups collaborate with the Knowledge Centre on a set of three short videos responding to the question: 'What makes an effective teacher?' The trainee teachers are used to thinking critically about what being a teacher means for them. We are very grateful to Pip Bishop, Lizzie Bowen, Melanie Hinks, Roisin Allen, Heather Jones, Sam Milnes, Stacy Knight, Mia Nolan and Rebecca Merriman for their work on this project.
  • TEDx Warwick 09

Our inspiration for TEDx Warwick ’09 is simple, just like TED. Why not empower students with ideas of the future in which they will live so that they can carry on the tradition by giving birth to new ideas about the future beyond theirs. This captures the essence of our event and we hope that you can see in it what we, and a strong following around the world see - that ideas drive the human race.
