Biomaterials

The design, synthesis and study of materials that are intended to interact with and influence biological systems is a critical aspect of advanced healthcare technologies. Research within the biomaterials theme is wide ranging and includes the full spectrum of materials from hard materials, such as ceramics and metal oxides/phosphates, to soft, polymer materials and nanocomposites.

Interests range from the development of new materials from natural or synthetic sources, modelling interactions and growth to studying their application in fields as diverse as medical imaging, tissue engineering and drug delivery as well as developing novel solutions for surgical problems.
