Sanctuary Scholarships

The University of Warwick is located on the outskirts of the city of Coventry which is recognised as a 'City of Sanctuary'. The 'City of Sanctuary' movement is committed to building a culture of hospitality and welcome, especially for those seeking sanctuary from war and persecution. The University of Warwick provides a range of scholarships to enable people seeking sanctuary/ asylum to progress to access university education.

What scholarships are available?

We are pleased to offer a range of scholarships to support refugee, humanitarian protection and asylum-seeking students in the UK. Each scholarship will have its own eligibility criteria and details of how to apply.


We will offer up to three fully funded scholarships for postgraduate taught students and up to two fully funded scholarships for research students starting in 2018-19. Full details including eligibility criteria and how to apply for a scholarship can be found on the Graduate School website.



For the 2018-19 academic year, up to four undergraduate scholarships will be available to students who are seeking asylum in the UK and are not entitled to receive statutory student financial support from Student Finance England (Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland). Applications for the 2018-19 academic year are now open.
