Departmental Assessment Strategies

 

Academic Year 2013/14

Following the approval of the University's Assessment Strategy on 29 January 2014, Departments were asked to:

  1. Communicate the University Assessment Strategy,
  2. Produce any department-specific adjustments to the University Assessment Strategy by 2 May 2014,
  3. Develop an initial implementation plan by 1 October 2014

The Departmental Assessment Strategies and Implementation Plan documents should be sent to quality at warwick dot ac dot uk.

A guidance document has been produced to help to stimulate discussion in departments during the development of departmental assessment strategies and this can be downloaded, as can a word version of the University Assessment Strategy.

Support and Development

Advice and guidance on writing departmental assessment strategies, mapping assessment across courses, module and course design can be provided by LDC. Please contact m dot conaghan at warwick dot ac dot uk in the first instance. Depending on the level of requests for guidance, LDC will consider setting up appropriate generic training sessions to support Departments.

Transforming the Experience of Students through Assessment (TESTA)

TESTA was a joint National Teaching Fellowship Project between four partner universities: Bath Spa, Chichester, Winchester and Worcester. It was funded by the Higher Education Academy for three years (2009-2012) and was aimed to improve the quality of student learning through addressing programme-level assessment. The TESTA webpages offer a number of resources that can be used by institutions to carry out an audit of assessment at course level.
