Implementation

  1. Departments are primarily responsible for implementing elements of this Strategy; their engagement with it and commitment to enhancement will be evaluated through annual planning and review processes. Individual departments may wish to develop their own Learning and Teaching Strategies to guide their planning.
  2. Faculties will support and promote departmental activity through the Faculty-wide forums for enhancement.
  3. The Academic Quality and Standards Committee will be responsible for reviewing progress of the implementation of the Strategy on an annual basis, including reprioritisation of aims and objectives as appropriate. This work will take place alongside the Vision 2015 Strategy Board which has responsibility for reviewing progress against Vision 2015 objectives, and other University committees with responsibilities for specific areas of activity, such as the International Committee.
  4. The Academic Quality and Standards Committee will also have responsibility for the maintenance of academic standards and oversight of enhancement activities across the University, together with the Boards of Graduate and Undergraduate Studies.
  5. The University will support innovation and enhancement through the funding and guidance available from the Institute of Advanced Teaching and Learning (IATL), overseen by the IATL Steering and Management Groups. The Teaching Grid and IATL learning spaces will provide locations for experimentation.
  6. Support for the professional development of new staff, for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activity for more experienced colleagues and embedding and dissemination of good practice will be provided through the Learning and Development Centre, drawing on appropriate internal and external academic expertise.
  7. The University will ensure that there are structures in place to recognise and reward exceptional teaching and support for learning, for example through annual monitoring, the promotions processes, sabbaticals for teaching development, and Warwick Awards for Teaching Excellence.
  8. Resourcing of projects and facilities will continue to be determined through the University’s annual planning processes, informed by strategic priorities.
  9. Warwick’s Centre for Student Careers and Skills (CSCS) is committed to enhancing the provision of academic literacy, skills development and supporting students in preparing for employment through a wide range of activities and across all levels of study.
  10. The Warwick Students’ Union will work with the University to deliver this strategy, in particular playing a full part in quality assurance and enhancement processes including supporting SSLCs, contributing to the range of extra-curricular opportunities available to Warwick students, and acting to celebrate the special international nature of the Warwick student body and to integrate all its elements.
