Bernard Schottlander

Born 1924, Mainz, Germany. Died 1999, Oxfordshire.

Bernard Schottlander came to England in 1939, and during the war worked in structural engineering as a welder. From 1949-51 he was at the Central School of Arts and Crafts and thereafter set up his own engineering workshop. He became a full-time sculptor in 1963 and taught at St Martin's School of Art in London from 1965. He exhibited that year with the London Group and at the ICA. His first solo exhibition was at the Hamilton Galleries in 1966.

His work is publicly sited in London and Milton Keynes.
