Dawe, Bob

Nationality: British.

Bob Dawe ran the Red Barn Pottery in Great Wratting, Suffolk with Howard Evans, from 1965 to 1968. He later moved to Sudbury in Suffolk to work on his own.

In the 1960s Dawe studied at Goldsmith’s College of Art in London where the Head of Ceramics was David Garbett who was particularly interested in the sculptural potential of ceramics. The direct methods of construction, slab building and hand rolling, were preferred to throwing on the wheel and surface decoration featured textures created with incised lines and impressed marks, techniques which were employed by Dawe throught his career.
