Where is The Nursery?

The Nursery is located on Lakeside, virtually opposite the Scarman House Conference Centre, just off central campus, on Scarman Road.

The Building

The Nursery moved from the old premises on Westwood (where it had been for a number of years) to a beautiful custom-built building in April 2009.

In October 2011, the building won a commendation from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).

The choice of location of the nursery was praised, both for its "views of the lake and surrounding landscape", and because the positioning of the nursery at the meeting point of well-used footpaths "enliven[s] the campus." The design of building was commended for its "flexible internal arrangement". More on this story.

We believe that space and environment are crucial in enabling child development, and are proud to welcome children into a beautiful and creative space. Our premises have been designed to provide the best possible service for Warwick parents and children.

Benefits include:

  • plenty of facilities, including a large kitchen and a covered outdoor play area
  • quiet and private area of campus with beautiful natural scenery
  • dedicated parking for nursery users

Access

Access to the Nursery is through the glass double doors at the front of the building. The first set of doors will be unlocked whenever the Nursery is open and will open automatically as you approach to allow you into the Foyer. The Nursery Office and Manager's Office are located to the left of the Foyer. You will then need your University card to open the second set of glass doors which will give you access to the Nursery proper. Please do not hold these doors open to allow others through for security reasons.

Parking

The Nursery has its own car park at the back of the building which we encourage you to use. To access the car park you will need to go through the barrier on Scarman Road, using your University card. If you do not have a card or the barrier is not admitting you, please use the phone at the barrier to contact the gatehouse.

Please do not park in the layby in front of the barrier. Parking is not permitted here as this is a turning point for vehicles. Scarman Road is also marked with double yellow lines and Security may clamp any vehicles illegally parked here.
