Terms of Reference

(1) To take an integrated and strategic approach to the provision of information to support the research, teaching and corporate activities of the University.

(2) To make recommendations to the Senate on the overall University IT, library and information strategy and policy.

(3) To prepare and submit recommendations on the resource requirements to implement the University IT, library and information strategy as part of the annual financial planning round.

(4) To submit, on a termly basis, a report to the Steering Committee on matters having an impact on the implementation and development of the University IT, library and information strategy.

(5) To approve, after consultation with the Steering Committee and within the context of the overall University IT, library and information strategy:

(i) strategies and policies for the development and management of teaching and learning information

(ii) strategies and policies for corporate and business systems.

(iii) strategies and policies for the University IT infrastructure, its operation and service standards.

(iv) legal compliance policies and regulations regarding the use and security of information and data.

(6) To oversee:

(i) the integration of e-learning methods.

(ii) the review, development and implementation of business and corporate systems

(7) To establish, where appropriate, sub-groups which will include relevant members of the administrative and academic staff to take forward particular aspects of the Committee’s work.

Reporting Structure

The Information Policy and Strategy Committee is a committee of the Senate.

The current sub-groups of the Information Policy and Strategy Committee are:

Technology Enhanced Learning Steering Group (also a sub-committee of the Academic Quality and Standards Committee)

Scholarly Communications Oversight Group (with a remit for steering, in liaison with IPSC, the Intellectual Property Committee and Research Committee, the University’s approach to open access). Please contact the Librarian for further information (PA - Andy Harvey)
